Since "Tulip Mania" of the early 1600s, tulips have been used in textile design. They became known as the symbol of perfect love. This design is an adaptation of an 1840 appliqued Baltimore quilt. The finished piece is 15" x 26" and lined.

The Slave Quilt penny rug is an adaptation of an 1850 slave crib quilt piece. The original crib quilt was created with the textiles that slaves had for their own use...homespun hand dyed in tan, cream, green, and blue. The finished piece is 14" x 18" and lined with homespun.

The Primitive Amish Pincushions are reproductions of vintage Amish pincushions. Peeps, as the Amish called them, and hearts were popular textile themes and remain so today. The finished Peeps pincushion is 4.5" x 8.5"; Stacked Hearts is 6" square.

This lovely penny rug is adapted from an 1847 Baltimore Album Quilt. The colorful pomegranate has been cultivated since ancient times. It is thought to be the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge mentioned in biblical history. The finished piece is 15" round with scalloped edges.

VICTORIAN NEEDLE CASE AND PINCUSHION
The Victorian Needle Case & Pincushion are reproductions of vintage textiles and use the cottage rose from an 1850 quilt piece. The earliest needle cases and pincushions were treasured gifts for family and friends. The finished pincushion is 6" round; the needle case is 3.75" x 4.5".

The Beehive penny rug pillow is an adaptation of an 1800 sampler piece, which was the handiwork project of a young schoolgirl. Sewn on a homespun background, the finished pillow is 10" x 12".
